Engage. Prepare. Educate.
Aplia Homework System Announces New Venture Into Business Statistics
Innovative, interactive learning tools drive student engagement in their coursework and help them learn more in their classes.

SAN CARLOS, CA, July 5, 2007—Aplia, an online homework system that improves learning by increasing student effort and engagement, has begun work on its newest solution: business statistics. This effort will mark Aplia's third discipline, following closely behind economics and finance.

Stanford professor Paul Romer, founder of Aplia, said, "Statistics is just like economics and finance. Students have to solve problems to master the material. With the structure that Aplia can provide—frequent assignments, hard deadlines, and just-in-time feedback—almost all students can succeed in these courses. Everyone at Aplia is excited about adding the many students taking classes in statistics to the more than 500,000 students we have already helped."

Aplia decided to go into business statistics after carefully listening to what professors felt were the greatest teaching obstacles they faced. Aplia's new business statistics product will help students face their fear of math, show them how to correctly interpret statistical data, and make sure that they grasp the skills and concepts presented in their textbooks. Aplia assignments are easily customized for professors and their individual teaching schedules and include several cost-effective purchasing options for students.

Aplia provides instructors with the ability to deliver online, interactive, auto-graded assignments, ensuring that students put forth quality effort on a regular basis. Aplia offers different types of content for each discipline, including problem sets with detailed feedback and tutorials that help students overcome deficiencies in necessary prerequisite subjects.

Aplia first developed materials for economics courses in 2002, and has since expanded its offerings to include finance and business statistics. Aplia recently passed the 500,000-student milestone and is now looking at developing online homework products for additional academic subjects.
